Happy New Year everyone!!

For this meeting only, we will be meeting At Eisenhower Recreation Center because Seabreeze will be closed for 2 weeks for maintenance.

This meeting will be hosted by Debby Murray and her project is listed below.  Thank you Debby for filling in for me as I won’t be at the first meeting. 

Our second meeting on the 28 th we will be back at Seabreeze and we will make our 2025 calendars.

In case you’re wondering, I will be collecting your $10 dues at our first meeting in February.

We will be doing fracture cards during the January 14^th meeting. Debby Murray will have 1 kit for everyone that contains an ice cream sundae for the center piece.

 

These are fun easy cards and a great way to use up scraps.

Bring your usual toolkit, don't forget scissors, your cutter, and adhesive. If you have a favorite sentiment, bring it to use/share, Debby will have a few to share. Also bring embellishments. Debby will have a few to share.

Debby will be happy to show other ways to use up your scrap printed paper if you are interested. So bring your scraps and turn them into some beautiful cards. Also bring cardstock for your card base and mats.

Our next meeting on Tuesday December 10 will be held at the Seabreeze Recreation at 6PM.

Gwen’s project is a Christmas ornament. All you need to bring is a bone folder, two sided tape, and glue. She will have bells to use in place of the beads in the picture. If you want to use beads you can bring them. She made some kits up with Christmas paper that she had and some white that she stamped with snow flakes.

Nancy will have kits for everyone. She will bring stamps, ink pad and dies that are needed for you use. You will need to bring the usual supplies and colored pencils for coloring the little mouse inside card or you can color them at home later.

Who invented pizza?

When it comes to the history of pizza, Italians are credited with inventing modern pizza, but a baked bread with toppings has many other ancestors in other cuisines.

Italy’s version of the dish, especially from Naples, is the one we are most familiar with, though pissaladière from Provence, coca from Catalona, and lahmacun (among other forms) from the Middle East all bear a remarkable resemblance to pizza.

As the legend goes, modern pizza—an open-faced pie slathered in tomato sauce and mozzarella—was given to us in the 18th century by the baker Raffaele Esposito in Naples, Italy. In 1889, he made a patriotic pie topped with mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes, ingredients in the colors of the Italian flag, in honor of King Umberto and Queen Margherita’s visit. It is rumored the Queen enjoyed the pie, and thus, it became known as a Margherita.

In the US, Italian immigrants sold pizza in their stores, and the first pizzeria (Lombardi’s) was opened in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi on Spring Street in New York City, but pizza did not truly not catch on stateside until World War II. Stationed in Italy, many American and European soldiers tasted pizza and brought an appetite for this now ubiquitous dish home with them. Today, you’ll find pizza sold in Italian food restaurants and by street vendors around the world, which means you’ll never need to look far if you’re craving a flatbread pizza with crunchy crust baked with olive oil. Tasty!

Our meeting on Tuesday May 14 at 6PM will be held at the Seabreeze Recreation Center.

We will be doing an Iris folding card. Carol will bring the butterfly template.

You will need to bring;

Scotch tape, scissors, pop-ups or pop-up-tape, white card stock for the card, pieces of designer paper, ribbon or interesting pieces of cloth material (tissue paper also works).

Our meeting on Tuesday March 26 at 6PM will be held at the                      Seabreeze Recreation Center.

For this meeting Pam is going to present her Spiral-Pop-Up card.

You need to bring a 4¼” x 11” piece of white cardstock scored at 5½”,
a scrap of white cardstock to punch a 1¾” circle and a tag for the
greeting.

She will bring the DSP, Gorgeous Grape cardstock for layering and
inside butterflies, gems and diecut butterflies for the front.

Our meeting on Tuesday March 12 at 6PM will be held at the Seabreeze Recreation Center.

Bonnie will show us how to make a colorful card from scraps.

Supplies

White card stock, Colored card stock, Coordinating colored card stock, Bag of scraps (will be provided), Sentiment of your choice, Ribbon and embellishments, Paper cutter, Adhesive

Instructions

Cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of colored cardstock. Score at 4 1/4 and fold. Set aside

Cut 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 piece of white cardstock (scrap base). Adhere scraps to scrap base making sure to cover the entire base

Cut 3 3/8 x 4 5/8 coordinating cardstock.  Mount the scrap base on this coordinating cardstock. Turn this over and place dimensional on the back. Mount to the card base. 

Stamp a sentiment. Cut it out. Place dimensionals on the back. Mount to scrap base (if you’d like to place a ribbon behind the sentiment do this now before you mount the sentiment). 

Add embellishments.

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope that the holiday season was a
happy and joyful one for you! It’s also my wish that 2024 will be filled
with love, laughter and joy. 

As usual, our next meeting will be hosted by Jean and I’ve created our
annual 2024 Calendar project. It’s certainly different and I think it’s
perfect for your desktop. Pictures will be attached for you.

Here is your supply list:
2 sheets of plain Cardstock 12x12
Background paper, small print
Wet Adhesive (glue)
Paper trimmer
Scoreboard

If you have a paper collection that is made for a calendar that might work. Otherwise your paper should be coordinating. I also think a 6x6 paper pad would work as well. I will supply the 2024 calendar.

Our meeting on Tuesday November 14 at 6PM will be held at the Seabreeze Recreation Center.

Bonnie will show us a Double-Flap Card. She will bring her stamp set, die cuts and her manual die cut machine if you’d like to borrow them for this project.

 

For the BASE:

Cardstock color of your choice (coordinate with decorative paper): CUT 4¼”x11”, score at 5½

Cut off 2¾ on one end for TOP FOLD (save this scrap as you will use it later), fold at score line

Decorative paper (TOP FOLD): CUT 2½”x4⅛”

Coordinating decorative paper (inside): 4”x5¼”

Adhere decorative paper to TOP FOLD

Adhere coordinating decorative paper to inside of card

 

 TOP FLAP:

Scrap from above: 2¾”x4¼”

Decorative paper: 2⅝”x4⅛”

Stamp or die cut approximately 3” tall and 2” wide image

Embellishments if desired

Adhere the decorative paper to the scrap saved from the BASE

Stamp or die cut your image/images

You can use foam dots or adhesive to adhere image to the Top Flap

Set aside

INSIDE FLAP

Cardstock color of choice: CUT 3¼”x10, score at 5”, fold at score line

Basic White: CUT (2) 3⅛”x4⅞”, use embossing folder for one of the cuts

Adhere the cardstock under the TOP FOLD being sure to center it

Adhere the embossed piece to the top of the INSIDE FLAP

Adhere the basic white piece to the inside of the INSIDE FLAP

Adhere TOP FLAP to TOLD FOLD making sure to center it on all sides

Debby will show us how to make a braided card.

She will bring the stamps that are shown in the picture but you are

responsible to bring all supplies to create this card after you are

shown how to do the braid. Let your imagination run wild, there is

no limit to what you can do with this.

You will need to bring:

your normal tool kit (scissors, liquid glue, bone folder etc.),

cardstock for your card base – it will be an A2 card. It can be

double sided for more interest if you want or you could have a

double sided piece of pattern paper to glue on to you card stock,

cardstock to mat your card,

stamp(s) and inks, colored pencils, markers or whatever you want

to create an image/design on your card.

    I will be showing everyone how to create 5 different styles of gift card
    holders without having to use a die.  I made all of mine in a Christmas
    theme but they could be used for any occasion birthday, graduation, just
    because, or Anniversary.

    I need everyone to bring their basic kit, paper trimmer, score board,
    wet adhesive, & pop dots, to class.  Paper wise, I would recommend the
    following Cardstock solid at least 5 sheets one for each gift card base;
    Patterned Paper of your choice, it’s suggested that one might be a solid
    pattern that coordinates with the pattern you chose, at least 4-5 
    sheets. The idea is for you to be able to mix and match the papers.

    We will be trying to make all 5 gift cards at the meeting. I think that
    we can complete the bases with  some simple layering of the pattern
    paper but we can finish up embellishing them later on, perhaps at home.

    There are some cutting instructions for you aka homework.I would paper-
    clip all the pieces for the gift cards together. In other words, all
    the pieces for gift card 1 clipped together, then all the pieces for
    gift card 2 clipped together and so on. Here we go:

    Gift card 1 - Trifold: 
    Base Cardstock (solid color) 4”x 8”; score on long side at 2” & 5 1/2”
    Belly band solid Cardstock 1”x8”; score at 1 3/4” & 5 1/4”
    Patterned paper 1 of each - 3 3/4x2 1/4”; 3 3/4”x1 1/4”; 3 3/4”x3 1/4”

    Gift card 2 - Trifold with Pop up:

    That’s a lot of homework! I’m sorry.... but if you can do this before we
    meet this week, I think we can get them all in.

In addition to your usual tools you will need 8½x12 Christmas color card stock, and 12x12 Christmas designer paper.
